Proposed competition categories and event specifications

Notes:

Boys/Girls categories for ages 13-14 and 15-16 are based on Biathlon Canada Senior and Junior Boys/Girls competition categories, as are the age definitions for competitors in the 11-12 and 10-and-younger categories ("Juvenile" and "Midget" Boys and Girls).
Boys/Girls age 15-16 shoot both prone (on prone targets, using a prone sling and cuff) and standing.
Boys/Girls age 13-14 shoot prone for all bouts on prone targets using a prone sling/cuff.
It's unlikely that we'll be able to configure a shorter penalty loop at the Snow Mountain Ranch venue, so competitors age 11-12 should plan to ski a 150m penalty loop even though the guidelines below indicate 100m.
Competitors under the age of 10 will be assessed time penalties only (no penalty loops skied).
The results for Boys/Girls 11-12 and Boys/Girls under 10 will be combined to form one class for purposes of the State and Class Championships. Similarly, the Men's and Women's Junior and Youth categories (ages 17-18 and 19-20) will form one category for State and Class Championships, and the Boys/Girls ages 13-14 and 15-16 categories will be grouped together into a single category for State and Class Championships recognition.
