Eldora, Frisco, and Snow Mountain Ranch range status

Eldora: The target is in place, and -- except for the repair of one paddle -- is ready for use. A sign-in sheet should be in the mailbox by the end of the Thanksgiving weekend. Please do sign in when you use the range so that we have somewhat accurate records of range use. As of November 19, Eldora Nordic Center was not officially open, although trail coverage on most of 17th Avenue and Phoebe Snow is reasonably good. The turn into the range and the cover on the range itself is thin, so watch those bases!

Frisco: The platform planking is repaired and ready to go (thanks, Jim Kite!). The targets are scheduled to be set up by Thanksgiving.

Snow Mountain Ranch: Dave Cleveland reports that other than the downhill stretch before the range entrance, and a few other spots wearing thin due to heavy traffic without recent snow, the course is in better shape than it was for the first race last year. Things look good for our December 17 race. Think snow!

Reminders: Remember that rifles aren't allowed in the Eldora and Frisco Nordic Centers, and you should not leave rifles unattended at the nordic centers. When you're buying your trail pass, let the Nordic Center staff know that you'll be practicing on the range.

Winter 2000-2001 Race Schedule

Calling all Officials, Level 1 and otherwise! Racers, we're calling you, too. Here's the final Colorado schedule for this season. Check out the many opportunities for you to acquire valuable officiating experience! Racers, check out the fact that if we don't get some officials and associated volunteers, it'll be mighty hard to get those targets pulled and penalty laps counted. You get the picture. Ski testing opportunity

We have received an offer of reduced prices on this year's model Germina skis to eight of our club members in exchange for feedback on how they perform. The offer was brought to us by Greg Wright at nordiccenter.com, and is available to any of our members. Experienced skiers would perhaps have more specific feedback to give. Germina is a German manufacturer and their skis are highest quality and very light. The following models are available in this offer (all soft, medium or hard flex, except RX801 which are medium flex only): Orders in groups of 4 only. Safety Certification Clinic

A safety certification clinic is scheduled for Saturday, November 25, at the Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center. The clinic will begin at 10 AM. Contact Dave Wells (303-985-4481, davidwells@earthlink.net ) with any questions or to confirm your attendance.

Membership Renewals

Yes, another winter season is upon us and so is membership renewal time. A renewal form is included with this newsletter. Your dues help us maintain our training and racing facilities, fund club rifles, pay for newsletter costs, put on the occasional clinic and all of that other good stuff. Please make sure we have your correct contact information, especially your e-mail address, so we can keep you up-to-date with regard to all the latest and greatest Colorado Biathlon happenings.
